Piston: Testing and Inspection

NOTE:
Piston Pins
Piston and piston pins are a matched set and cannot be interchanged.

Piston Installation
Always install the piston in the same cylinder bore from which it was removed.

VISUAL INSPECTION
^ If wear marks or polishing is found on the piston skirt, check for a bent or twisted connecting rod (6200).
^ Inspect for a step in the grooves.

PISTON PIN BORE DIAMETER
^ Measure the piston pin bore diameter in two directions on each side.
Diameter: 20.632-20.641 mm (0.8123-0.8126 inch).





^ Verify the diameter is within specification.

^ Measure the piston skirt diameter as indicated.

PISTON TO CYLINDER BORE CLEARANCE
^ Subtract the piston diameter from the cylinder bore diameter to find the piston to cylinder bore clearance.
Maximum: 0.020-0.40 mm (0.0008-0.0015 inch).
