Cleaning

CAUTION: Do not use a caustic cleaning solution or a wire brush to clean the pistons (6108) or possible damage may occur.

NOTE: Piston and piston pins are a matched set and cannot be interchanged.





1. Clean and inspect the (A) ring lands, (B) skirts, (C) pin bosses, and the (D) top of the pistons.
2. If wear marks or polishing is found on the piston skirt, check for a bent or twisted connecting rod (6200).
3. Use Piston Ring Groove Cleaner D81L-6002-D or equivalent to clean the piston ring grooves. Make sure oil ring holes are clean.
