End Play
NOTE:Specifications and Limits
Specifications show the expected minimum or maximum condition. If a component fails to meet the specifications, it is necessary to replace or refinish. If the component can be refinished, wear limits are provided as an aid to making a decision. Any component that fails to meet specifications and cannot be refinished must be replaced.
1. Use Dial Indicator With Bracketry TOOL-4201-C to measure crankshaft end play.
2. Position the crankshaft to the rear of the cylinder block (6010).
3. Zero the Dial Indicator With Bracketry TOOL-4201-C.
4. Move the crankshaft to the front of the cylinder block. Note and record the crankshaft end play.
End Play: 0.100-0.300 mm (0.004-0.012 inch).
5. If crankshaft end play exceeds specifications, replace the crankshaft thrust washers or thrust bearing.
