Flow of Diagnosis

Special Tool: New Generation Star (NGS) Tester:

Special Tools

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

Mechanical
^ Damaged door lock cylinder.
^ Damaged ignition cylinder.

Electrical
^ Blown fuse(s).
- 5A MIRROR.
- 10A ROOM.
^ Loose or corroded connections.
^ Damaged switch(es).
^ Damaged relay(s).

3. If the inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, use New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester (007-00500) connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and to execute Self Test Diagnostics for the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module. Also, enter PID/DATA Monitor and record to retrieve last alarm triggers. Record all eight AL_EVTs.
^ If Self-Test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
^ If DTCs are retrieved, go to the Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
^ If the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module cannot be accessed by the NGS, go to Pinpoint Test B. Test B: No Module Communication With RAP Module

NOTE: Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS) may also be used to diagnose this system.
