Headlamp Dimmer Switch: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
The multi-function switch assembly, which is mounted to the steering actuator housing, provides electrical switching for:
^ turn signal.
^ headlamp dimmer.
^ headlamp flash-to-pass.
^ hazard warning.
^ cornering lamps.
^ windshield washer/wiper.

OPERATION
The headlamp dimmer switch and the flash-to-pass feature, also operated by the multi-function switch operate as follows:
^ Select high beam by moving the multi-function switch away from the driver to the stop.
^ Release the multi-function switch to maintain high beams.
^ Select low beam by moving the multi-function switch toward driver from high beam position.
^ Release the multi-function switch to maintain low beams.
^ Pull the multi-function switch gently toward driver to operate flash-to-pass feature.
^ Release multi-function switch to return to low beam position
^ Using the flash-to-pass feature without the headlamp bulbs on will turn on the high beams until the multi-function switch is released.
^ Using the flash-to-pass feature with the headlamp bulbs on will keep the low and high beams on until the multi-function switch is released.

NOTE: Excessive force used to hold the multi-function switch in the flash-to-pass function followed by quick release may result in incorrect headlamp bulb dimmer selection of high beam. The driver must be cautioned to avoid this condition.
