Overhaul/Replacement
If any part of the valve tappet (6500) needs replacing, replace the ENTIRE valve tappet. Internal tolerances for the valve tappets are very critical. Mixing components from different valve tappets may upset these tolerances, resulting in improper valve tappet operation and possible engine damage.

Reinstallation
Keep valve tappets in proper sequence so that they can be installed in their original position. Inspect and test each valve tappet to avoid a mix-up. If a valve tappet is worn, replace all valve tappets and camshaft.

NOISY OPERATION
Before replacing a valve tappet for noisy operation, make sure the noise is not caused by:
- improper valve-to-rocker arm clearance.
- worn rocker arms.
- loose rocker arm mounting nuts or studs.
- worn push rods.
