Front Cable






REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Loosen adjuster nut at rear parking brake cable adjuster. Remove threaded cable end from rear parking brake cable adjuster.
3. Using a 13 mm box end wrench to compress the conduit retaining prongs, remove front parking brake cable and conduit from parking brake cable positioning bracket.
4. Remove grommet from floor.
5. Lower vehicle.

Park Brake Lever:





6. Disconnect front parking brake cable and conduit from parking brake control at clevis, using a 13 mm box-end wrench to press the conduit retaining prongs and remove cable-end pronged fitting from parking brake control.
7. From under vehicle, pull front parking brake cable and conduit to remove.

INSTALLATION
1. Start front parking brake cable and conduit through hole in front floor pan and secure grommet in place.

NOTE: Prongs must be securely locked in place.

2. Position front parking brake cable and conduit through front cable bracket at inner floor side member. Push prong into bracket.
3. Install cable adjusting nut and adjuster.
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Push prong retainer of front parking brake cable and conduit into parking brake control housing until prongs are secure.
6. Connect front parking brake cable and conduit to parking brake control clevis.
7. Raise vehicle.
8. Adjust parking brake cable and lower vehicle.
9. Apply the service brake pedal a few times and verify that the rear brakes do not drag when the rear wheels rotate.
10. Apply the park brake pedal a few times and verify that the rear brakes do not drag when the rear wheels rotate.
11. Verify that the manual release parking brake control lever stroke is five to seven notches when applied with a foot-pedal force of 98 N (22 lb).
