Cylinder Head Assembly: Description and Operation

CAUTION: This engine has aluminum cylinder heads and requires a special corrosion inhibiting coolant to avoid cooling system damage. Refer to Cooling System for the coolant specifications.

CYLINDER HEADS
The cylinder heads are aluminum with four valves per cylinder. It requires a special corrosion inhibiting coolant to avoid cooling system damage. Refer to Cooling System for the coolant specifications.

ROCKER ARMS
The rocker arms pivot on the valve tappets and ride on the camshaft lobes, transferring the up-and-down motion of the camshafts to the exhaust valves and intake valves in the cylinder heads.

Hydraulic valve tappets provide automatic lash adjustment.
