Enabling and Disabling Features

The enable/disable mode allows the assembly plant and service technician (if the incorrect configuration is suspected) to set the alarm configuration of the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module to match the laws for alarm operation in the country where the vehicle is to be driven. The enable/disable mode also allows the owner to enable/disable the autolock.
^ The alarm configurations shown in the following chart are set by the assembly plant for regulations in the expected destination and should not be modified for use in countries other than as listed in this table.
^ The remote activated PANIC alarm will share the exterior lamps and horn characteristics.
^ The panic alarm will turn on interior lamps in all cases for 25 seconds.
^ Alarm Triggers means the number of times the anti-theft system can trigger between disarm events. Locations not listed are assumed to use North America standards.

The enable/disable mode is entered when the following series of steps occurs:

NOTE: Steps 3 through 6 must be executed within 30 seconds of turning ignition switch to RUN in Step 2.

1. Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered (Refer Disarming Triggered or Untriggered System), ignition switch is OFF and all doors are closed. System Disarming
2. Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
3. Press door power UNLOCK button three times.
4. Turn ignition switch from RUN to OFF.
5. Press door power UNLOCK button three times.
6. Turn ignition switch back to RUN within 30 seconds of Step 2.

If the RAP module has successfully entered enable/disable mode it will lock and then unlock all doors. While in the enable/disable mode, the RAP module will not have any other functionality except enabling/disabling features. The following sequence will toggle the feature to either the enabled or disabled state, opposite of its current state. Enabling a new alarm configuration will automatically disable the previous alarm configuration.

7. Press the door power UNLOCK button the number of times associated with the feature you wish to enable or disable as shown below:

DOOR POWER UNLOCK BUTTON ENABLE/DISABLE FEATURES

Number of Unlock Presses Enable/Disable Feature
1 Autolock/Relock
5 North America/Gulf coast/Korea Alarm
6 Europe/Australia Alarm

8. Press the door power LOCK button once after pressing the last UNLOCK in order to enter the enable/disable code. The system will confirm the altered feature by chirping the horn the same number of times as the number of unlock presses registered. An additional long horn honk will follow after the horn chirps if the feature has been enabled. No horn honk will follow the horn chirps if the feature was disabled.
9. After a horn chirp sequence has occurred in the enable/disable mode, another enable/disable sequence may be performed.
10. To exit enable/disable mode, turn ignition switch OFF (or allow five minutes to pass after entering enable mode). Upon exiting, the system will confirm the exit with a honk chirp if a feature has been changed.

For example, if the vehicle being serviced is being sent to Europe for the summer, the customer may request that the perimeter alarm be configured for European laws.

To do this:
1. Confirm that perimeter alarm is disarmed.
2. Enter the vehicle and sit in driver seat.
3. Confirm that all doors are closed and that the ignition switch is OFF.
a. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.
b. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button three times.
c. Turn the ignition switch from RUN to OFF.
d. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button three times.
e. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.

NOTE: Steps a through e MUST happen within 30 seconds.

4. Verify that the RAP module LOCKS then UNLOCKS all doors. This indicates that the RAP module is now in the enable/disable mode and ready to accept program changes.
5. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button five times to command the RAP module to toggle the North America alarm configuration OFF.
6. Press the power door lock LOCK button once to enter the command.
7. Verify that the vehicle horn "chirps" five times to signal RAP module confirmation of the command.
8. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button six times to command the RAP module to toggle the European alarm configuration ON.
9. Press the power door lock LOCK button once to enter the command.
10. Verify that the vehicle horn "chirps" six times to signal RAP module confirmation of the command. Verify also the one longer "honk" to indicate that the RAP module has enabled the commanded feature.
11. Turn the ignition switch OFF to exit the enable/disable mode.
12. Exit the vehicle and verify that the RAP module "chirps" the horn once to indicate that a feature has been changed.

The RAP module will now be configured for European requirements.

The autolock and the appropriate alarm configuration are turned on at the factory. The remote anti-theft personality will keep its enabled/disabled settings any time battery positive voltage (B+) is disconnected and reconnected to the remote anti-theft personality module.
