Flow of Diagnosis

INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the ignition switch.
2. Inspect to determine if any of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

Mechanical
- Binding condition.
- Key does not turn.
- Cannot remove key
- Damaged release on steering lock.
- Damaged cable from shift control selector lever "Automatic transaxle only).

Electrical
- Blown 20A (F10) fuse in power distribution box.
- Blown 7.5A (F30) fuse in fuse junction panel.
- Shorted wire(s).
- Damaged connection(s).
- Damaged ignition switch.
- Starter Relay.
- Ignition Relay.
- Fuse junction panel 3A (D2) Diode.
- Power Distribution Box 3A (D1) Diode.

3. If inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required.

NOTE: If a binding condition occurs, turn the steering wheel left or right to release the possible load on the ignition switch and verify the ignition key is cut properly.

4. If the concern remains after the inspection, determine the symptom and go to Diagnosis By Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
