Variable Induction Control Actuator: Service and Repair
Actuator Cable:
REMOVAL and INSTALLATION
1. Observe fuel pressure release procedures, relieve fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveablity and performance.
3. Remove upper intake manifold .
4. Remove screws retaining water pump pulley shield to LH valve cover. Disconnect vent hose and remove water pump pulley shield.
5. Disconnect actuator cable from Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) lever, cable bracket, water bypass stud and cable bridge.
6. Disconnect harness connector from electric actuator and cable assembly.
7. Remove bolts attaching IMRC electric actuator and cable assembly to LH valve cover. Remove electric actuator and cable assembly.
Actuator And Cable Assembly:
8. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten electric actuator and cable assembly bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in).
