Removal and Installation










REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Remove retaining nuts from outlet flange on Three Way Catalytic (TWC) converter and remove the muffler and exhaust converter outlet gasket from the TWC converter.
3. Remove TWC converter retaining nuts and exhaust pipe flange hold down springs.
4. Remove TWC converter and exhaust converter inlet gasket from Y pipe or exhaust manifold.
5. Discard exhaust converter inlet gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Loosely install TWC converter to Y pipe or exhaust manifold, using a new exhaust converter inlet gasket.
2. Position muffler and exhaust converter outlet gasket onto TWC converter and loosely install retainers onto outlet flange studs of TWC converter.
3. Align exhaust system. Make sure muffler and TWC converter are fully engaged. Tighten all nuts and bolts, starting at front of system, to specification.
4. Tighten the TWC converter retaining nuts with exhaust pipe flange hold down springs to 30-40 N.m (22-30 lb ft). Tighten muffler inlet flange nuts to 34-46 N.m (26-33 lb ft).
5. Check system for leaks and lower vehicle.
