Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Description and Operation

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor changes resistance in response to the temperature of the engine coolant. The ECT sensor then provides a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that indicates the temperature of the engine coolant by the resistance decreasing as the surrounding air temperature increases.
