REMOVAL
1. Remove upper intake manifold.
2. Remove crankcase ventilation tube from LH valve cover and remove from engine.
3. Remove fuel charging wiring brackets from LH valve cover retainer stud bolts. Position fuel charging wiring out of way.
4. Remove intake manifold runner control actuator (IMRC) and place aside.
5. Remove IMRC actuator cable bridge.
6. Remove ignition wires from spark plugs and LH valve cover. See Powertrain Management.
7. Loosen valve cover retaining bolts and stud bolts following the removal sequence shown.
8. Carefully remove valve cover from LH cylinder head. Remove integral valve cover gaskets from LH valve cover.

INSTALLATION
NOTE: Prior to installation, clean valve cover sealing surfaces using a shop towel and Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A. Apply 8 mm (5/16 inch) diameter bead of Black Silicone Rubber F4AZ-19562-B or equivalent sealant meeting Ford specification WSF-M4G323-A1 at two places on the valve cover sealing surfaces where the and cylinder heads contact and at two places on the rear of the cylinder head where the camshaft seal retainer contacts the cylinder head.
To install, reverse removal procedure noting the following:
^ Install new valve cover gaskets onto LH valve cover. Tighten valve cover bolts and stud bolts in sequence shown to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.) within six minutes of applying sealer.
^ Tighten IMRC electric actuator and cable assembly bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.).
