Flow of Diagnosis

The following items must be checked before proceeding:
1. Know and understand the customer's concern.
2. Perform a road test to validate customer's concern. (When does it exist?)
a. upshift
b. downshift
c. coasting
d. engagement
e. Noise/Vibration, check for dependencies:
(1) rpm dependent
(2) vehicle speed dependent
(3) shift dependent
(4) gear dependent
(5) range dependent
(6) temperature dependent
3. Vehicle at normal operating temperature.
4. Check fluid level and condition.
5. Visually inspect the vehicle for the following items:
a. vehicle modifications
b. electronic add-on items
c. leaks
d. proper linkage adjustments
6. Check TSBs for concern information.
7. Proceed to Diagnosis by Symptom. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
