Removal

1. Remove gearshift lever knob by grasping firmly with both hands and pulling up.





2. Unsnap boot bezel from console assembly and remove gearshift lever boot.
3. Remove shift control selector lever insulator by sliding over gearshift lever.
4. Raise vehicle on hoist.
5. Remove nuts and center underbody heat shield.
6. Remove through bolt that retains transmission gearshift rod and clevis to shift lever shaft. Pull transmission gearshift rod and clevis back to disengage from transaxle.
7. Remove nut that retains gear change stabilizer bar to the bracket at the RH transaxle support insulator.
8. Remove gear change stabilizer bar from bracket.
9. Remove two nuts retaining bracket and insulator to floorpan at the rear of transmission control selector housing.
10. Lower transmission control selector housing, transmission gearshift rod and clevis and gear change stabilizer bar from vehicle as an assembly.
