Installation

1. Install transmission control selector housing, transmission gearshift rod and clevis and gear change stabilizer bar into vehicle as an assembly, positioning gearshift lever through floorboard.
2. Install insulator lever to end of transmission control selector housing and locate to bracket on floorboard. Install lower bracket and two retaining nuts. Tighten nuts to 13-17 Nm (115-150 inch lbs.).
3. Install gear change stabilizer bar over stud on stabilizer bar bracket at RH transaxle support insulator. Install nut and tighten to 47-63 Nm (35-46 ft. lbs.).
4. Slide gear change rod coupling on to shift lever shaft. Install through bolt and tighten to 9-12 Nm (80-106 inch lbs.).





5. Loosen shift linkage clamp bolt and place transaxle in NEUTRAL.
6. Lower vehicle.





7. Install Gear Lever Aligning Tool T94P-7025-FH onto gear shift lever and rotate top of tool clockwise.
8. Raise vehicle.





9. Screw MTX Shifter Alignment Pin T96P-TB140-A into shift lever housing until hex portion of tool bottoms lightly on shift lever housing.

NOTE: It may be necessary to move shift linkage slightly to align MTX Shifter Alignment Pin T96P-7B140-A with internal shift lever.





10. Tighten shift lever clamp bolt to 16 Nm (141 inch lbs.).
11. Install center underbody heat shield.
12. Remove MTX Shifter Alignment Pin T96P-7B140-A.
13. Lower vehicle.
14. Turn upper portion of Gear Aligning Tool T94P-7025-FH counterclockwise and remove tool.
15. Install insulator over gearshift lever and into position on shift lever housing retainer.
16. Install gearshift lever boot onto gearshift lever. Snap shift lever boot bezel into console.
17. Align shift graphics and install shift knob by firmly pushing onto gearshift lever.
