Input Shaft: Testing and Inspection

Check input shaft for:
^ worn or damaged teeth, splines and bearing surfaces.

Input And Output Shaft Runout Measurement:





^ input shaft gear runout. Check the runout by mounting the gear shaft in a lathe or V-blocks. Use Dial Indicator/Magnetic Base D78P-4201-B or equivalent.
Maximum allowable runout: 0.050 mm (0.002 inch).
^ If runout exceeds maximum allowable, replace input shaft.
^ Clean the transaxle input shaft with a wire brush and suitable solvent. Inspect condition of the input shaft splines. Use a stone to dull sharp edges of the splines. If splines are worn excessively or notched the clutch disc will not slide on the input shaft. Replace the input shaft as required.
