Installation

1. Position main control valve body assembly and squeeze retaining tabs on the solenoid valve body harness connector and push solenoid valve body connector harness connector up through transaxle case.

NOTE: Inspect solenoid valve body harness connector O-ring and replace if necessary before installing solenoid valve body harness connector in transaxle case.





2. Connect manual valve link to manual valve and carefully position main control valve body to transaxle case; secure in place with 12 mounting bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence shown to 9-11 Nm (80-97 inch lbs.).





3. Loosen the ball stud on manual valve detent lever.





4. Disconnect shift cable from manual control lever remove manual lever retaining bolt and remove manual lever from manual shaft.
5. Install Shifter Shaft Alignment Tool T94P-77000-H on manual control shaft.





6. Rotate manual control shaft until tool alignment pin fits into case hole.
7. Rotate manual valve detent lever to D position and initially tighten manual valve detent lever ball stud.
8. Remove the Shifter Shaft Alignment Tool from main control shaft.





9. Rotate manual valve detent lever until a socket can be placed on the manual valve detent lever ball stud. Tighten manual valve detent lever ball stud nut to 11-13 Nm (98-115 inch lbs.).
10. Rotate the manual valve detent lever to N position.
11. Install manual control lever on the manual control shaft and secure with manual control lever retaining bolt. Tighten bolt to 24-30 Nm (18-22 ft. lbs.).
12. Connect shift cable to manual control lever.





13. Install wire harness clip to main control valve body assembly.





14. Install main control cover with new gasket to transaxle and secure with 14 bolts. Tighten bolts in the sequence shown to 14-18 Nm (124-159 inch lbs.).





15. Connect transaxle cooler inlet line to transaxle. Tighten cooler inlet line fitting to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
16. Remove drain pan from under main control cover.
17. Connect transaxle harness electrical connector.
18. Install transmission range (TR) sensor and retaining bolts on transaxle. Do not tighten bolts.








19. Install Transmission Range Sensor (MLPS) Alignment Tool T94P-70010-AH on TR sensor and align TR sensor slots with tool. Tighten TR sensor retaining bolts to 11-13 Nm (98-115 inch lbs.).

NOTE: If necessary, move manual control lever to N position for TR sensor adjustment.

20. Connect TR sensor electrical connector.





21. Reposition the A/C suction accumulator/dryer on the front sub-frame and secure with two screws. Tighten screws to 6-8 Nm (53-71 inch lbs.).

CAUTION: Use extreme care not to place excessive pressure on A/C lines and fittings when disconnecting or repositioning A/C components. Excessive pressure may cause component damage and A/C system leaks.

NOTE: On some vehicles, it may be necessary to disconnect and position the A/C suction accumulator/dryer out of the way to allow enough room for main control cover removal.

22. Install battery tray in vehicle and secure seven bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.).
23. Reposition power distribution box and secure with one bolt. Tighten bolt to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.).
24. Install air cleaner assembly.
25. Install battery.
26. Check transaxle fluid level and refill as necessary.
