Ball Joint: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove front suspension lower arm.
4. Drill a 3 mm (0.118 inch) pilot hole through each rivet. Drill a 9 mm (0.354 inch) hole in rivets to a depth of 12 mm (0.472 inch).
5. Using a 7-8 mm (0.275-0.314 inch) diameter punch, remove rivets. Remove front suspension lower arm ball joint.





INSTALLATION

NOTE: Leave protective cover on front suspension lower arm ball joint to protect ball joint seal.

1. Position front suspension lower arm ball joint in front suspension lower arm.
2. Install three bolts into front suspension lower arm. Tighten to 85 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
3. Install front suspension lower arm.
