Wiper Switch: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe wiper control switch:
^ is mounted on the RH side of the steering column.
^ operates all functions with a lever.
^ moves up to three detent positions-intermittent low speed, high speed.
^ moves down one position for single-stroke-wipe with spring return.
^ moves toward the steering wheel for wiper/washer operation with spring return.
^ has a rotating control band one and one-half inches in from the end that controls the intermittent operation time interval.
NORMAL OPERATION
The windshield wipers are controlled by the wiper control lever which is an integral part of the windshield wiper control switch.
^ The wiper control lever is located on the RH side of the steering column. To operate the windshield wipers, the ignition switch must be in the ON position.
^ In addition to the OFF position, the wiper control lever has two fixed positions, LO and Hi, and an intermittent (INT) position.
INTERMITTENT OPERATION
^ If the intermittent (INT) position is selected, the time between windshield wiper cycles will decrease as the intermittent control band is rotated away from the OFF position, and will increase as the intermittent control band is rotated toward the OFF position.
^ The time interval between wipes will vary depending on the intermittent control band's position relative to the OFF position.
