Removal and Replacement
Powertrain Control Module (PCM):
REMOVAL and INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveablilty and performance.
2. Position power steering oil reservoir out of the way.
3. Loosen engine control sensor wiring to Powertrain Control Module PCM connector retainer bolt.
4. Remove engine control sensor wiring connector from PCM.
5. Loosen PCM bracket support nut, located on RH lower side of dash panel.
6. Remove PCM bracket support and PCM.
7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten PCM bracket support retainer nut to 4 Nm (35 lb in). Tighten engine control sensor wiring connector retainer bolt to 4 Nm (35 lb in).
