Overdrive Switch: Description and Operation

A transmission control switch in the shift knob operates as follows:
- The system automatically engages the overdrive (O/D) mode each time the ignition switch is turned to RUN.
- Pressing the transmission control switch (TCS) with the ignition switch in RUN locks out the overdrive mode and illuminates the OVERDRIVE OFF lamp.
- Pressing the TCS again reverts to the (O/D) mode.
