Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair


Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor:






REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Drain engine cooling system.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveablilty and performance.

3. Remove the engine intake air resonators.
4. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
6. Remove ECT sensor.
8. Tighten ECT sensor to 10-14 Nm (89-120 lb in). Install the engine intake air resonators.
9. Refill engine cooling system.
10. Connect the battery ground cable.
