Throttle Control Actuator: Service and Repair
REMOVALNOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 18 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove wire clip and disconnect throttle control actuator electrical connector.
3. Remove plastic cover from throttle control actuator.
Accelerator Cable Removal From Upper Pulley:
4. Rotate throttle control actuator upper pulley and disconnect accelerator cable from upper pulley.
Accelerator Cable Removal From Lower Pulley:
5. Rotate throttle control actuator lower pulley and disconnect accelerator cable from lower pulley.
6. Slide accelerator cables out of throttle control actuator housing.
7. Remove two nuts retaining throttle control actuator to traction assist control bracket and remove throttle control actuator from vehicle.
INSTALLATION - To install, reverse Removal procedure.
NOTE: Tighten throttle control actuator retaining nuts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
