Canister Purge Control Valve: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Canister Purge (CP) valve controls the flow of vapors from the fuel vapor storage canister to the intake manifold during various engine operating modes.
OPERATION
The EVAP CP valve is the part of the EVAP system that is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The EVAP CP valve is a normally closed valve.
With the EVAP canister purge valve open, vapors from the fuel tank are drawn directly into the engine.
