Headlamp System

AERODYNAMIC
The headlamp system consists of:
^ two aerodynamic headlamps with replaceable halogen headlamp bulbs
^ three position headlamp switch (four position switch used with fog lamp equipped vehicles)
^ low and high beam relays
^ headlamp dimmer switch
^ high beam indicator lamp
^ circuit wiring
^ circuit protection

Power is supplied to the headlamp switch through circuit protection, located in the power distribution box, in the engine compartment.

Ground for the headlamp system is provided through Circuit 31 (BK).

Turning the headlamp switch all the way to the right provides power to the headlamp dimmer switch located in the turn and emergency warning indicator switch, and to the low beam relay, located in the power distribution box in the engine compartment.

With the dimmer switch in the low beam position, power is supplied to the low beam elements of the headlamps through the low beam relay, and separate RH and LH low beam circuit protection located in the power distribution box.

With the dimmer switch in the high beam position, power is supplied to the high beam elements of the headlamps and high beam indicator, located in the instrument cluster, through the high beam relay and separate RH and LH high beam circuit protection located in the power distribution box.

Momentarily pulling the dimmer switch toward the steering wheel closes the flash-to-pass switch and the high beam headlamps light. They will remain lit until the dimmer switch is released.
