Removal and Installation
SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIREDSpring Lock Coupling Tool (5/8 in.) T83P-19623-C
REMOVAL
1. From inside vehicle pull hood lock release handle to release hood.
2. Lift hood and support with hood support rod.
3. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Observe all safety precautions. Refrigerant Recovery
4. Disconnect wire harness connector from A/C cycling switch.
5. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube using Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool T83P-19623-C or equivalent at the suction accumulator/drier. Cap the A/C manifold and tube and suction accumulator/drier to prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture.
6. Raise vehicle.
7. Remove radiator air deflector.
8. Remove two bolts retaining the A/C accumulator bracket to the front sub-frame.
9. Pull suction accumulator/drier down along side front sub-frame to improve access to evaporator to compressor suction line.
10. Unscrew the A/C cycling switch from the top of the suction accumulator/drier.
11. Disconnect evaporator to compressor suction line using Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool T83P-19623-C or equivalent at the suction accumulator/drier. Cap the evaporator to compressor suction line and suction accumulator/drier to prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture.
12. Remove suction accumulator/drier from vehicle.
13. Loosen bolt retaining suction accumulator/drier to A/C accumulator bracket and remove from A/C accumulator bracket.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the suction accumulator/drier into the A/C accumulator bracket. Do not tighten clamp bolt at this time.
2. Lubricate the O-ring seal on the suction accumulator/drier nipple with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford Specification WSH-M1C231-B.
3. Screw the A/C cycling switch on the suction accumulator/drier nipple and hand-tighten.
4. Using a new C-ring lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford Specification WSH-M1C231-B, connect the suction accumulator/drier inlet tube to the evaporator to compressor suction line.
5. Install the A/C accumulator bracket to the front sub-frame with two retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 10-12 N.m (7-9 Lb-Ft).
6. Using a new O-ring seal lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B, connect the A/C manifold and tube to the suction accumulator/drier.
7. Connect wiring harness connector to A/C electronic door actuator motor.
8. Tighten bolt retaining suction accumulator/drier to A/C accumulator bracket to 7-9 N.m (62-79 Lb-In).
9. Install radiator air deflector.
10. Leak-test evacuate and charge the system following the recommended service procedures. Observe all safety precautions. Service and Repair
11. Check the system for proper operation.
