Ford does not provide camshaft gear timing marks, or information to perform timing belt service without the special tools shown in the timing belt service and repair procedure. Timing Belt









REMOVAL
1. Remove camshaft belt timing covers, camshaft timing belt and crankshaft sprocket (6306).
2. Remove oil pan (6675) and oil pump screen cover and tube (6622).
3. Remove oil bypass filter (6714).
4. Remove oil pump retaining bolts.
5. Remove oil pump (6600) and oil pump cylinder block gasket from cylinder block (6010).
6. Inspect oil pump and replace as necessary.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean oil pump to cylinder block gasket sealing surfaces with a wire brush, if necessary. Use care to prevent damaging the sealing surfaces.

NOTE: Clearance between cylinder block oil pan sealing surface to oil pump oil pan sealing surface should not exceed 0.3-0.8 mm (0.012-0.031 inch).

2. Rotate inner rotor of oil pump to align with flats on crankshaft (6303). Install oil pump with a new oil pump cylinder block gasket flush to cylinder block at oil pan sealing surface using a straight edge.
3. Install oil pump retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 8-11.5 Nm (71-102 inch lbs.).
4. Install oil bypass filter.
5. Install oil pump screen cover and tube and oil pan.
6. If required, install crankshaft front seal (6700).
7. Install crankshaft sprocket, camshaft timing belt and camshaft timing belt covers.
8. Fill crankcase to proper level with specified oil.
9. Run engine and check for leaks.
