REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
2. Remove engine intake air resonators (9F763).
3. Disconnect crankcase ventilation tube (6758) from fitting on valve cover (6582).
4. Remove ignition wires and ignition wire separators (12297) from valve cover and disconnect from spark plugs (12405).
5. Remove retaining bolt and nut for power steering pressure hose retaining bracket to RH engine lifting eye (17A084). Position power steering pressure hose (3A719) out of the way.
6. Remove retaining bolts for upper camshaft timing belt cover and remove from engine cover.
7. Remove valve cover retaining bolts in a standard-type removal sequence, starting from the outside of the valve cover and working to the inside of the valve cover.
8. Remove valve cover with valve cover gasket (6584) from cylinder head (6049).
9. Inspect valve cover gasket and O-rings for damage or signs of leakage. Replace valve cover gasket and O-rings if required.

INSTALLATION
To install, reverse removal procedure noting the following:
^ Tighten valve cover retaining bolts to 6-8 Nm (53-71 inch lbs.) in standard sequence, beginning in the center of the valve cover and working to the outside of the valve cover.
^ Tighten upper camshaft timing belt cover bolts to 3-5 Nm (27-44 inch lbs.). Tighten power steering pressure hose bracket retaining bolt and nut securely.
