Removal & Installation
1. Drain engine coolant.2. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
3. Remove upper radiator hose (8260) from radiator (8005).
4. Remove transmission oil cooler tube (7C410) from oil cooler inlet fitting (if equipped).
5. Remove nuts retaining fan shroud (8146) to the radiator.
6. Raise and support vehicle.
7. Remove lower radiator hose (8286) from radiator.
NOTE: Loosen transmission oil cooler tubes while holding radiator connector with a back-up wrench.
8. Remove transmission oil cooler tube from oil cooler outlet fitting on radiator (if equipped).
9. Support fan shroud, radiator and A/C condenser core (19712) with a suitable jack stand.
10. Remove lower radiator supports (16138) from front sub-frame (5C145) and radiator.
11. Remove two retaining bolts for A/C condenser core from brackets at bottom of radiator.
12. Position jack stand aside and carefully remove radiator.
NOTE: When installing a new radiator (8005), transfer the transmission oil cooler line fittings from the old radiator and install them in the new radiator using Pipe Sealant with Teflon(R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR Ml8P7-A.
13. To install, reverse removal procedure noting the following:
^ Tighten fan shroud nuts and A/C condenser core bolts to radiator to 2.7-5.4 Nm (24-48 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten lower radiator support retaining bolts to 8-11 Nm (71-97 inch lbs.).
^ If equipped, tighten transmission oil cooler tube to fitting to 24-31 Nm (18-23 ft. lbs.). Refill coolant.
^ Check the transaxle oil cooler line connections for leaks. Check the transmission fluid level and fill if necessary. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
