Coolant Level Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

Description
When the ignition key is turned to RUN position, the low coolant level indicator will light momentarily and turn off after the engine is started, indicating adequate coolant fill. The indicator will turn on when the engine coolant level drops below the FULL COLD "Min" mark located on the side of the radiator coolant recovery reservoir. When indicating a low engine coolant level, the low coolant level indicator will illuminate and remain on until the coolant is filled to the correct level mark and/or vehicle ignition key is turned OFF and then cycled back ON or two minutes have elapsed. There is a two minute "anti-slosh" delay to prevent low coolant level indicator flashing when driving on bumpy roads.

Components
Low coolant level warning system consists of:
- Low coolant level indicator (located in instrument cluster below the coolant temperature gauge).
- Low coolant level sensor with floating magnet (located in the radiator coolant recovery reservoir).
- Necessary circuitry.
