Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the speed control system to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Inspect and verify that:
- Actuator cable is adjusted properly without holding the throttle open or increasing idle speed.
- Throttle linkage operates freely and smoothly when connected to the actuator cable and speed control servo.

Electrical
- verify proper horn operation.
- Verify stoplamp Operation.
- Check circuit fuses, power distribution box Fuse 12 (15A), fuse Junction panel fuses 22 (7.5A), 23 (15A) and 24 (15A).
- Inspect and verify that:
- Connections are complete with no loose wires or terminals.
- wiring is not broken, shorted or corroded.
- wiring is not misrouted.

3. If the inspection reveals obvious concerns that are readily corrected, service those concerns.
4. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, determine the symptom(s) and go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
