A - Parking Brake Will Not Apply

A1- Check For Misadjusted Rear Parking Brake Cable
^ Perform the cable adjustment procedure. Adjustments
^ Does the parking brake now engage properly?
YES - Vehicle OK.
NO - Go to A2.

A2- Check for Worn Brake Shoes
^ Inspect the brake shoes and linings for excessive wear.
> Disc brakes, refer to Disc Brake System. Testing and Inspection
> Drum brakes, refer to Drum Brake System. Testing and Inspection
^ Are the Brake shoes and linings OK?
YES - Go to A3.
NO - Replace the worn brake shoes and linings.

A3- Check For Damaged Parking Brake Cables
^ Inspect the parking brake cables for damage, rust or fraying.
^ Are the parking brake cables OK?
YES - Check for other causes such as loose parking brake control or conventional brake system components.
NO - Replace the damaged cables. Service and Repair
