E No ABS Lamp, No DTC
NOTE:- Perform Inspection and Verification before performing this pinpoint test.
- To clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's), refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code, Erasing. Clearing Trouble Codes
Anti-Lock Brake Warning Indicator Does Not Come "ON" When Ignition Switch Is Turned To "RUN" and No DTC's Retrieved
E1- Check Circuit 14 (P/Y)
- Turn ignition switch to "RUN".
- Observe the oil pressure warning indicator.
- Is the oil presure warning indicator illuminated?
YES - Circuit 14 (P/Y) is intact, go to E2.
NO - Circuit 14 (P/Y) is open/grounded, diagnose instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
E2- Check Circuit 31S (BK/R) for an Open
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Disconnect ABS control module C129.
- Turn ignition switch to "RUN".
- Using a jumper wire, jumper the ABS control module C129-20, circuit 31S (BK/R) and C129-1, circuit 31 (BK).
- Did the anti-lock brake warning indicator illuminate?
YES - Go to E5.
NO - Go to E3.
E3- Check Circuit 31S (BK/R) For An Open
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Disconnect the instrument panel C290.
- Measure the resistance between the ABS control module C129-20, circuit 31S (BK/R) and the instrument panel C290-2, circuit 31S (BK/R).
- Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
YES - Go to E4.
NO - Service circuit 31S (BK/R). Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
E4- Check Anti-lock Brake Warning Indicator Lamp
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF".
- Access the anti-lock brake warning indicator bulb. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
- Remove the bulb and check the bulb resistance.
- Is the bulb OK?
YES - Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
NO - Replace bulb. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system.
E5- Check Anti-Lock Brake Warning Indicator
- Inspect, clean and reconnect connector C129.
- Turn ignition switch to "RUN".
- Is the anti-lock brake warning indicator lamp "ON"?
YES - Fault was intermittent. Restore vehicle and retest system.
NO - Replace HCU. Restore vehicle. Clear DTC's and retest system. If fault reappears during retest, replace the HCU.
