Antilock Brake System

DETERMINING SYSTEM TYPE
All vehicles that are equipped with traction control will use the Mecatronic I/II system. Vehicles that are equipped with ABS only may be equipped with a Mecatronic II or a Mecatronic III system, depending on the date the vehicle was built. The Mecatronic I/II and Mecatronic III systems can be distinguished from one another by the number of hydraulic brake tubes on the top of the hydraulic control unit (HCU), located under the brake power booster, and the location of the ABS module harness connector.
