Parking Brake Release Switch: Description and Operation

The automatic parking brake release switch:
^ is a vacuum switch.
^ is located on the top of the steering column.
^ The parking brake release control motor is actuated to release the parking brake whenever the engine is running and the transmission is in a forward-driving gear.
^ The parking brake release vacuum hose connects the parking brake release control motor to the engine manifold through a vacuum release switch at the steering column tube.
^ vents the parking brake release vacuum motor in PARK, REVERSE and NEUTRAL.
^ operates off the shift tube cam which is designed to open and close the parking brake release switch between NEUTRAL and DRIVE.
