Message Center Switch Module

The message center switch module is located immediately to the right of the instrument cluster. It consists of four buttons:
- SELECT
- E/M.
- RESET.

The electronic instrument cluster receives a resistance signal corresponding to the button being pressed (17,600 ohms maximum range). A tone is sounded when a button is pressed.

Select
The SELECT buttons display any of the selectable message center functions:
- Distance to empty (DIST TO EMPTY).
- Average fuel economy (AVG ECON).
- Instantaneous fuel economy (INST ECON).
- Trip distance A (TRIP A) and B (TRIP B).
- Average speed (AVG SPEED).

The highlighted box indicates the feature. The button can be pressed on the right (forward) or left (reverse) side to move the highlighted box to the right or to the left menu selection.

E/M
The E/M button displays the function in either English mode (MILES PER GAL, GAL, MILES) or metric mode (LTR/100 km, LTR, km). This affects both the electronic instrument cluster and electronic automatic temperature control system (if equipped).

Reset
The RESET button resets the called up message center function as follows:
- Trip distance reset to zero.
- Average fuel economy is reset to the instantaneous fuel economy value.
- Average speed is reset to instantaneous.
