3. Drain cooling system and remove fan blade (8600) and fan shroud (8146). Refer to Cooling System.
4. Relieve fuel system pressure and disconnect fuel lines. Refer to Powertrain Management.
5. Remove upper radiator hose (8260).
6. Remove windshield wiper governor (17C476) and support bracket.
7. Recover air conditioning system. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
8. Disconnect A/C compressor to condenser discharge line (19972) at A/C compressor (19703) and remove bolt retaining hose to RH ignition coil bracket. Disconnect 42-pin connector and eight-pin transmission harness connector at power brake booster (2005).
10. Disconnect heater water hose (18472).

11. Remove nut retaining ground strap to RH cylinder head (6049).
12. Remove upper stud bolt and lower bolt retaining heater water hose to RH cylinder head and move out of way.
13. Remove heater blower motor switch resistor (18591).
14. Raise and support vehicle.
15. Drain engine oil. Reinstall on pan drain plug with new gasket and tighten to 11-16 Nm (8-12 ft. lbs.).
16. Remove bolt retaining RH front engine support insulator (6038) to front sub-frame (5C145).
17. Disconnect three way catalytic converter (TWC)(5E212) from RH and LH exhaust manifold (9430).

18. Lower exhaust and secure to crossmember in positions shown with wire.
19. Position a screw-type jackstand and a block of wood under oil pan (6675) rearward of oil drain hole.
20. Raise engine approximately 100 mm (4 inches).
21. Insert two wood blocks approximately 60-70 mm (2.5-2.75 inches) thick under each front engine support insulator.
22. Lower engine onto wood blocks and remove jack from under oil pan.

NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen (DO NOT REMOVE) the two nuts on transmission support insulator (6068). With a screw-type jackstand, raise the extension housing (7A039) of the transmission slightly to remove oil pan.

23. Remove bolts retaining oil pan to engine. Remove oil pan.
24. If necessary, remove two bolts retaining oil pump screen cover and tube (6622) to oil pump (6600) and remove bolt retaining oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage.

NOTE: Remove all traces of dirt, oil or previously applied sealant. Clean all sealing surfaces with Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A. Sealing surfaces must be clean and dry before applying sealant.

2. Clean sealing surfaces of engine front cover (6019), crankshaft rear oil seal and retainer (6K301) and cylinder block (6010).
3. Inspect oil pump screen cover and tube and replace O-ring.

4. If removed, position oil pump screen cover and tube on oil pump and hand-start two bolts.
5. Hand-tighten bolt retaining oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer.
6. Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube-to-oil pump bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.). Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing stud spacer bolt to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).

7. Position new oil pan gasket (6710) on oil pan.
8. Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 where engine front cover meets cylinder block and crankshaft rear oil seal and retainer meets cylinder block. Position oil pan on engine and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts in sequence to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.) then an additional 60° in no more than four minutes after applying sealer.
9. Position screw-type jackstand and block of wood under oil pan rearward of oil drain hole.
10. Raise engine enough to remove wooden blocks.
11. Lower engine onto front engine support insulator and remove jack.

NOTE: Two through-bolts are required on LH front engine support insulator and one through-bolt is required on RH front engine support insulator.

12. Install front engine support insulator through bolts and tighten to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).
13. Install bolt retaining RH front engine support insulator to lower front sub-frame. Tighten to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: Make sure exhaust system clears No.3 crossmember. Adjust as necessary.

14. Remove wire and position exhaust system to both exhaust manifolds. Install four nuts and tighten to 27-41 Nm (20-30 ft. lbs.).
15. Replace oil bypass filter (6714).
16. Lower vehicle.
17. Install heater blower motor switch resistor with two retaining screws.
18. Position heater water hose. Install upper stud bolt and lower bolt and tighten upper stud bolt and lower bolt to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.). Install ground strap on stud and tighten nut to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).
19. Connect heater water hose.
