Disassembly and Assembly

DISASSEMBLY





1. Using Piston Pin Tool D81L-6135-A or equivalent press piston pin (6135) through piston (6108) and connecting rod (6200).
2. Clean and inspect piston, piston pin and connecting rods. Check piston and piston pin fit.

ASSEMBLY
1. Apply a light coat of clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-F to all parts.
2. Verify that all parts to be assembled are for same cylinder. Assemble piston to connecting rod.
3. Heat piston pin end of connecting rod to 230°-400°C (446°-752°F).
4. Start piston pin in piston and connecting rod. This may require a very light tap with a mallet.
5. Using Piston Pin Tool D81L-6135-A or equivalent press piston pin through piston until piston pin is centered in piston.
6. After assembly, make sure connecting rod swings smoothly.
