Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

Idle Air Valve Installation - Gasoline Engine:

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the idle air control valve.
3. Remove the two idle air control valve retaining bolts.
4. Remove the idle air control valve and gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean idle air control valve gasket mating surfaces.

NOTE: If scraping is necessary, do not damage idle air control valve or intake manifold idle air control valve gasket surfaces, or drop material into intake manifold.

2. To install idle air control valve, reverse Removal procedure.
3. Tighten retaining bolts in two steps:
- Tighten bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb-in).
- Rotate bolts 85-95 degrees.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
