Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
2. Release drive belt tensioner (6B209) and remove accessory drive belt (8620).
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt (6A340) and crankshaft pulley retaining washer (6378) from crankshaft (6303).
5. Install Crankshaft Damper Remover T58P-6316-D on crankshaft pulley (6312) and pull crankshaft pulley from crankshaft.

INSTALLATION
1. Using Crankshaft Damper Replacer T74P-6316-B, install crankshaft pulley.
2. Clean sealing surfaces with Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A, to remove all residues that may interfere with the sealer's ability to adhere.

Crankshaft Pulley Keyway Silicone Gasket Sealant Application Locations:





3. Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 to end of keyway of crankshaft pulley as shown.

NOTE: Make sure key on crankshaft aligns with keyway of crankshaft pulley.

4. Install crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley retaining washer. Tighten in four steps:
a. Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) cylinder head.
b. Loosen one complete turn 360°.
c. Tighten to 47-53 Nm (35-39 ft. lbs.).
d. Tighten an additional 85-95°.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Install accessory drive belt.
7. Connect battery ground cable.
8. Start engine and check for leaks.
