Post-Service Procedures

POST-SERVICE PROCEDURES
After the service is complete and the natural gas fuel charging system is installed to engine, perform the following steps:

NOTE: Check all connections at fuel injection supply manifold, fuel injectors and fuel line push connect fittings.

1. Connect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Connect jumper wire to sockets 87 to 30 in fuel pump relay socket in power distribution box and harness.

NOTE: Construct a jumper wire from 153 mm (6 inches) of 18 gauge wire and two spade terminals.

3. Using Rotunda Combustible Gas Detector 055-00107, Snoop leak detector equivalent, check fuel system for leaks. Service all leaks.
4. Turn ignition switch to RUN, then start engine (if possible) and warm to operating temperature. Check engine for coolant leak if coolant was removed.
5. Perform Powertrain Control Module Self-Test to check system function.
6. Inspect coolant for natural gas odors. If natural gas is present, replace fuel pressure regulator.
7. Install fuel pump relay in power distribution box and harness.
