Upper

INSTALLATION






1. Position upper fuel tank rack assembly into vehicle using Rotunda Powertrain Lift 014-00765 and Rotunda Fuel Tank Removal Bracket Set 014-00470 or equivalent. Make sure the fuel lines and upper tank rack wiring harness are positioned through the body.

WARNING: The Rotunda Fuel Tank Removal Bracket Set 014-00470 or equivalent must be secured to the upper fuel rack assembly with the retaining pins or possible damage to the vehicle or possible personal injury may occur.

2. Remove Rotunda Powertrain Lift 014-00765 and Rotunda Fuel Tank Removal Bracket Set 014-00470 or equivalent.






3. Install two upper fuel tank rack assembly retaining bolts. Tighten to 47-63 Nm (35-46 lb ft).
4. Raise vehicle.






5. Install two upper fuel tank rack assembly retaining bolts located above the rear axle assembly. Tighten to 47-63 Nm (35-46 lb ft).
6. Connect the upper tank rack wiring harness connector and install connector onto bracket.

7. Install fuel line to the lower tank rack O-ring fitting. Using a backup wrench, tighten to 34-39 Nm (25-29 lb ft).

CAUTION: Replace O-ring seal in fittings. Lubricate O-ring seals with Clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-F.

NOTE: Natural gas approved O-rings are identified with a yellow stripe. Do not use unapproved O-rings.

NOTE: Make sure all O-ring sealing surfaces are clean.

8. Lower vehicle.
9. Connect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

10. Perform Post-Service Procedures. Service and Repair
11. Inspect system for leaks. Service any leaks located.
12. Install two flexible tube retainer to body retaining nuts. Tighten to 10.2-13.8 Nm (91-122 lb in).
13. Install flexible tube retainer closeout and tighten nylon nuts securely.
14. Install luggage compartment lamp.
15. Install luggage compartment rear trim panel and retain with pushpins.
16. Install upper fuel tank rack interior luggage compartment closeout trim and retain with pushpins.
17. Raise vehicle.
18. Install lower tank rack access panel and retain with pushpins.
19. Install LH rear wheel and tire assembly.
20. Inspect system for leaks.
21. Lower vehicle.
