Fuel Filter: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Natural gas vehicles are equipped with a coalescer/filter assembly. The coalescer/filter assembly separates, filters and stores any contamination and moisture found in the fuel system, preventing moisture from entering the engine.

SERVICE NOTES
The coalescer/filter assembly should be checked and drained of moisture on a regular basis. Draining of the coalescer/filter assembly at time of engine oil change or vehicle service is required. Service of the coalescer/filter assembly element is required on a scheduled basis (refer to the Maintenance / Service Intervals) or when performance is diminished. Due to differences in fuel between locations, some vehicles may need to drain and service coalescer/filter assembly on a more frequent basis.
