Wiper Motor Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Turn ignition switch to RUN. Turn on the multi-function switch and cycle wipers to the mid-wipe position (straight-up) and turn ignition switch OFF.

NOTE: The windshield wiper assembly is non-serviceable except for the windshield wiper motor.

2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove LH and RH windshield wiper pivot arms.
4. Remove cowl top extension-to-hood seal.







5. Remove LH cowl vent screen and RH cowl vent screen.
6. Remove four retaining screws and washers and the cowl top extension.
7. Disconnect wiring connector from the windshield wiper motor.
8. Remove five retaining bolt and washer assemblies and mounting brace nut from the windshield wiper assembly.
9. Lift the windshield wiper assembly slightly to disengage the support bracket from the dash panel mounting stud, move the windshield wiper assembly sideways about 50.8 mm (2 inches) toward the passenger side and remove the windshield wiper assembly from the vehicle.







10. Remove windshield wiper adapter and connecting arm clip by lifting and sliding off wiper motor arm. Remove wiper linkage drive arm.







11. Remove the three retaining bolts and remove windshield wiper motor from the windshield wiper assembly.

NOTE: Check location of support bracket on windshield wiper assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. Position windshield wiper assembly in cowl top panel and install retaining bolts and nut. Tighten bolts and nut to 10-14 Nm (89-124 Lb-In).

CAUTION: Before installing the windshield wiper pivot arm and windshield wiper blade assemblies to the windshield wiper pivot shaft, cycle windshield wiper motor and turn off multi-function switch to ensure that the windshield wiper pivot shaft are in the park position.

2. Install wiper linkage drive arm to wiper motor arm pin. Install clip until it snaps into place.
3. Install RH cowl vent screen. Install LH cowl vent screen.
4. Connect battery ground cable. Check windshield wiper motor operation through all modes.
5. Install and adjust windshield wiper pivot arm assemblies.
6. Install windshield wiper blades.
