Installation

1. Remove Differential Plug T89P-4850-B.
2. Replace the inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing seal.

3. Install a new driveshaft bearing retainer circlip on the inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing.

NOTE: To install the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip properly, start ends in groove and push the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip into the groove. This action will avoid over-expanding the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip.

4. Lightly lubricate the inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing with Constant Velocity Joint Grease (High-Temp) E43Z-19590-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESP-M1C207-A.

5. Carefully align splines of inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing with splines in differential side gear.

6. Push halfshaft into differential side gear, engaging driveshaft bearing retainer circlip with groove in differential side gear. Use care to prevent damage to inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing seal.

NOTE: A non-metallic mallet may be used to aid in seating the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip into the differential side gear groove. If a mallet is necessary, tap only the inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing.

7. Engage rear hub with outboard CV joint splines.

8. Install rear suspension arm and bushing bolts and nuts. Using inboard wrench as a lever, align index marks and tighten bolts to 160-200 Nm (118-147 ft. lbs.).

9. Install a rear axle wheel hub retainer and pull CV joint into rear hub as far as possible by hand as shown.
10. Install brake drum and new pushnuts.

11. Check inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing-to-driveshaft bearing retainer circlip engagement by attempting to pull inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing from axle. If CV joint driveshaft bearing retainer circlip is not seated, push in until driveshaft bearing retainer circlip is fully engaged in differential side gear.
12. Check axle lube level. Fill as necessary.
13. Install wheel and tire assembly and tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 ft. lbs.).
14. Lower vehicle.
15. Tighten rear axle wheel hub retainer to 340 Nm (250 ft. lbs.).
16. Install wheel cover.
