Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints: Application and ID

IDENTIFICATION TAG
The plant code on the axle identification tag is the official service identifier.
- The axle identification tag is located under the cover-to-carrier bolt in the 12 o'clock position.
- The plant code for a particular axle assembly will not be duplicated.
- The plant code will not change as long as that particular axle assembly never undergoes an external design change.
- If, however, an internal design change takes place in the same axle during the production life of the axle and that internal change affects interchangeability of service parts, a dash and numerical suffix will be added to the plant code.





VEHICLE CERTIFICATION LABEL
The vehicle certification label is located on the LH front door lock panel or door pillar. The vehicle certification label contains the axle identification code in the lower RH corner.
