Lower






REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Remove tire and wheel assembly.
3. Loosen front suspension lower arm ball joint nut three or four turns.
4. Rap front wheel spindle to separate front suspension arm bushing joint. Leave nut attached.
5. Support front wheel spindle by wire or other means to prevent excessive sagging of upper front suspension arm bushing joint.
6. Mark position of camber adjustment cam.

Tension Strut:





7. Remove nut retaining front suspension lower arm strut to front suspension arm bushing joint and discard. Hold front suspension lower arm strut by flats with wrench while turning nut.

CAUTION: Do not hold front suspension lower arm strut or damage surface in area shown.

8. Remove lower shock bolt and nut.
9. Remove and mark pivot (camber) bolt and nut location.
10. Remove nut at front suspension lower arm ball joint and remove front suspension lower arm.

INSTALLATION
1. Position lower front suspension lower arm in vehicle. Loosely install and align pivot (camber) bolt and new nut.
2. Install front suspension lower arm strut washer and insulators and loosely install front suspension lower arm strut to front suspension lower arm attaching nut.
3. Loosely install new front suspension lower arm ball joint nut.
4. Install lower shock bolt and nut. Do not tighten at this time.
5. Tighten front suspension lower arm ball joint nut to 113-153 Nm (84-112 ft. lbs.).
6. Tighten front suspension lower arm strut to front suspension lower arm nut to 113-153 Nm (84-112 ft. lbs.).
7. Remove wire or other support holding front wheel spindle.

CAUTION: Do not hold front suspension lower arm strut or damage surface in area shown.

8. Install tire and wheel assembly. Tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 ft. lbs.). Do not use power tools, use torque wrench.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Position vehicle on "drive-on" hoist or alignment rack. Push down on front of vehicle and release to neutralize suspension. Tighten lower shock nut to 170-230 Nm (126-169 ft. lbs.).

CAUTION: To prevent front suspension lower arm strut bushing wind-up, lower front shock absorber nut must be tightened with vehicle weight on wheel.

11. Align camber marks at pivot bolt. Tighten nut to 113-153 Nm (84-112 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: If lower front suspension lower arm is replaced, front wheel alignment must be checked.

12. Check wheel alignment.
