Hazard Warning Switch: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
The multi-function switch, mounted to the lock cylinder housing, unifies the following functions:
^ windshield washer/wiper.
^ headlamp flash-to-pass and high beam.
^ turn signal.
^ hazard flashers.

NOTE: The turn signal system is deactivated when the hazard flasher system is on and turn signal lever motion does not affect the hazard flasher system.

OPERATION
The hazard flasher system operates in the following manner:
^ The hazard flasher system operates with the ignition switch in any position including OFF and LOCK.
^ All turn signal lamps can be made to flash simultaneously by pressing and releasing the hazard actuation knob located on the top part of the steering column.
^ The hazard flasher switch is identified by a "double triangle" symbol.
^ The actuator will move out or away from the steering column to the ON position.
^ To turn the hazard flasher system off, push then release the knob. The actuator should remain in or toward the steering column in the OFF position.
